Harry thinks of hermione as a sister

I don't remember Albus mentioning the Peverells at all, dark or otherwise. But his use of the symbol of the Deathly Hallows in a letter to Grindelwald tells us he most likely knew of them and what they supposedly represented.

I agree that Ginny had all the loyalty, fire, and fighting skills (and more) that Hermione had, but Hermione's intellect was crucial so many times that I really wonder if they could have done it without her.

@WizardingWorldshoppingchannel is a very very good point. What we don't consider is how often Harry could have figured something out, but Hermione is better. Given time and between him and Ginny, I think they could have covered that gap, or just add Luna

Yes, but that's the nature of committed friendship, like Hermione had with Harry. Add romance to the mix and everyone gets self-conscious, over-sensitive and unnatural, especially in adolescence.

@WizardingWorldshoppingchannel this is very very true. I'm not convinced that it's all however. Look I don't know where you stand, but I do think that in truth, Harry and Hermione understood each other on a different level. I think they made a better couple, they wouldn't be perfect, no couple is, but they had staying power to be with each other through the hard times.

I agree totally, except I don't hold with the common belief that romantic love surpasses any other kind. In my experience romantic love is fickle and too challenging for most people to stick with for more than a few years. Maybe I'm just jaded, but I love the relationship Hermione and Harry have, just the way it is.

Luna was the only one who acknowledged Harry's suffering after Sirius's death, with the hand-hold moment in the movie, and the conversation in the book. So it's hard to imagine why people would think Luna ignored Harry's pain.

@WizardingWorldshoppingchannel Unfortunately, even though I do like Harry and Hermione together, I recognize that the Fandom is very aggressive. They poke holes in other possibilities quite often. But not just them. The Luna pairing was discussed quite a lot on Reddit and there was a large number that felt he flighty attitude meant she was dismissive. There was a brief time when Harry and Hermione were at odds in HBP. I theorized that if Hermione had chosen not to go with Harry to deal with things, Luna or Ginny would have stepped up. Luna is smarter than Ginny and a better fighter than Hermione. I feel like she thinks outside the box enough that she could have taken Hermione's place amongst the trio. It garnered quite the response lol.

I think Harry and Hermione are a perfect couple - I love their friendship and I would hate to see it turned into a romance. I can't imagine Harry and Luna as a romantic pair either, as Harry seemed to appreciate Luna from the fringes of her world. He had little understanding of where her mind was so they didn't have much common ground. Maybe I've just had too much life experience to believe romantic feelings can overcome all obstacles.

Yeah no it was never about romance for me between him and Luna. There is a story that got rather popular on Reddit. After the fight at the Ministry, Hermione decides to distance herself from Harry, to protect herself. So she starts a fight over the book and starts a romance with Ron to stop Harry from liking her. She eventually has successfully split Harry from her and Ron and Harry just leaves Hogwarts alone to deal with Voldemort. He dies. Reddit was all over this saying it was truthful and Hermione deserved to be a kid and shouldn't have had to deal with Harry's issues. They said Harry would have had nobody. I countered that with Luna and Ginny. Ginny proved herself a protector. She had run through fire for Harry. If Ron and Hermione abandoned him, Luna could have replaced Hermione to a degree. She's not as smart, but equally capable of thinking outside the box. Ginny is better than Ron at most things. So I believe those 2 would have stepped up and helped Harry. That was all I meant. It started a huge debate lol

I'm not sure that Harry would have let Ginny and/or Luna accompany him on such a dangerous mission. He wasn't going to let Hermione and Ron come with him except for their long history together, their repeated insistence they were coming, and Dumbledore's endorsement. I feel like Ginny and Luna didn't have that kind of hold over Harry's heart.
